Play Submission

The mission of New Village Arts is to present theatre fueled by the power and passion of the artist and share with its audience an uncompromising appetite for the human experience. Play submissions should reflect this mission with ensemble driven work that requires our theatre artist to flex their talent and engage their audience. We receive hundreds of synopses and inquiries each season, and our staff requests, reads and considers many of those submissions for production. Each requested script is read by at least two ensemble members, so a waiting period of seven to nine months for a response is not uncommon.

Submission Guidelines

At this time, we are accepting synopsis submissions only. Please do not send full scripts. If your synopsis leaves us wanting more, we'll ask for it, pinky swear. You may submit electronically or via snail mail. Please read and consider the guidelines for each format before licking that stamp or hitting the send button.

Mail-In Submissions

Please include:

  • A one-page synopsis of the script
  • A character breakdown including age ranges
  • A fifteen-page dialogue sample
  • If you'd like an acknowledgment that we've received your synopsis please include your email address or a self addressed, stamped postcard/small envelope
  • Materials will not be returned.
