SUMMER INTENSIVE FOR TEENS

PROGRAM: The Shakespeare Network: Acting I: Contemporary

AGES: 14-18

DATES: July 7 – 11, 12:00 – 3:30 PM

INSTRUCTOR: Justin Lang

 

DESCRIPTION: An intensive acting course for teens serious about theatre.  An in-depth approach to modern theatre styles, including scene study, script analysis and performance techniques.  Playwrights include Sam Shepard, David Mamet, Mary Zimmerman and more.  This class is for teens looking to take their acting to the next level.

PERFORMANCE: July 11, 4-5pm.

 

PROGRAM: The Shakespeare Network: Acting II: Classical

AGES: 14-18

DATES: July 14 – 18, 12:00 – 3:30 PM

COST: $150 (Students can sign up for both classes for $250, please call our box office to take advantage of this offer 760.433.3245)

 

INSTRUCTOR: Justin Lang

DESCRIPTION: For the student looking to deepen their connection to all theatre forms.  This intensive acting course delves into the work of William Shakespeare and other classical authors to increase a student’s understanding of language, style and characterization.  Classes will include scene work, monologue work, analysis and performance.

PERFORMANCE: July 18, 4-5 PM.

 

Tuition
5 Day Intensive:  $150 (Students can sign up for both classes for $250, please call our box office to take advantage of this offer 760.433.3245)
Twelve (12) students maximum per Intensive class.
One (2) scholarship per Intensive is available.

Applicants are required to send answers to the following questions to instructor Justin Lang at justin@newvillagearts.org

-What is your level of experience working on Shakespeare? (i.e. workshops, classes, productions)
-Why are you interested in continuing your studies on Shakespeare’s plays?
-Why are you looking to gain from this opportunity that can help you achieve your goals as an artist?

The Junior Ensemble has given me opportunities of a lifetime to grow in so many ways: as an actor, as an artist and as a person. I have been given a new-found appreciation and love for Shakespeare, for the arts. More importantly, I have been given a place where I can only continue to grow.
