The PATTE Awards…
Last week started off with the big party that is the PATTE Awards. NVA’s winner was Joshua Everett Johnson - he was honored for his Outstanding Performance as Eddie Fuselli in Golden Boy. Also awarded for Outstanding Performance was Ensemble Member Tom Zohar for his role in Yank! at Diversionary Theatre. Other folks who work with NVA: Amy Chini (playwright, Off the Ground, props, Bulrusher) won for Set Design for Moxie Theatre’s The Listener; Jason Bieber (light design, Orphans & Prelude to a Kiss) won for Light Design for Mo’olelo’s Night Sky; and Ensemble Member Sandra Ellis-Troy accepted on behalf of Sylvia M’Lafi Thompson with a beautiful speech.

The other big winner was Amanda Sitton, who was awarded for the “Best Dress of the Evening” by Angela Carone of KPBS…

Up next is the San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Awards tonight in La Jolla.

PETER SPRAGUE TRIO
Also on last Monday night, NVA hosted the Peter Sprague trio as part of our off-night series. It was very well attended and enthusiastically received. Mr. Sprague had great things to say about NVA and the facility - which should be very helpful as we try to attract bigger musical artists.

BULRUSHER
Rehearsals are moving along well.  If you don’t have your reservations yet please be sure you contact Kelly right away (kelly@newvillagearts.org).

We will have a full preview story in the Union-Tribune’s Night & Day section on February 5th. Jim Hebert will be conducting interviews with Eisa Davis (the playwright) and myself.  And we will be appearing on “These Days with Tom Fudge” on KPBS on February 12th at 10:40 AM.

NEW ADDITION TO THE NVA FAMILY
Congratulations to Ensemble Member Manny and Melissa Fernandes who brought baby Jack into the world last Friday.   Congrats to big sister Bella as well.
