A session with the blues…

Tim Parker, Susanna Kurner & Nathan James having a little jam session

Our next production, BULRUSHER, contains original music composed by playwright Eisa Davis.  Local blues guitarist Nathan James joined up with my fabulous jazz singing sister, Susanna Kurner, to give actor Tim Parker some practice time.  The music is a mix of roots blues songs with some folk stylings thrown in.

It looks like we’ll have Nathan James playing at opening night - you won’t want to miss it - he’s a great musician.  Check out his website at www.nathandjames.com.

Susanna’s website is www.susannakurner.com.  She has an upcoming gig at Bing Crosby’s in San Diego in January.

And you can see some of Eisa Davis’ other music at: http://cdbaby.com/cd/eisadavis.

The whole production/creative team can’t wait to share this beautiful play with you…more soon…

Pictured above: The crowd enjoying the after-party, catered by Chef DK Catering and sponsored by NVA Board Member Sherri Potts!

The show was a big hit and everyone had a great time at the party.  Huge thanks to Sherri Potts for sponsoring the evening (and organizing it all) and the amazing cast and crew for putting on the show.  We’ve only had one review so far (there were 6 openings in town that night), but it is very positive!  Audiences are also strong - if you don’t have your tickets yet, please be sure to call Kelly at the box office right away.

A few other  fun-to-know facts about OTG:
-The live Christmas trees are donated each week by Lowe’s
-The family photos on the mantle and fireplace include baby photos of John DeCarlo, Wendy Waddell, Wendy’s husband Brad, Sandra Ellis-Troy, Jack Missett’s granddaughter Siena and a few of the Kurner/Crane clan.
-Much of the set was painted by award-winning children’s book writer Janell Cannon
-Jack Missett eats about one quarter of a pie each evening
-The bowling trophy on the mantle is engraved “Richard Thomas Chini” - “Richard” for Grandpa Dick, “Thomas” for writer Tom Zohar and “Chini” for writer Amy Chini (thanks to PJ Anbey for creating that last year).
Just a few of the details you can look forward to seeing in the show - see you at the theatre!
